Ayesha AlBlooshi is a marine scientist, masterful storyteller and strategic advisor with a 15 year career history of leading strategic, disruptive and award-winning projects that serve people and planet. Her diverse experience includes leading G2G, science and conservation, strategic communication and creative projects in the environment, education, and social sectors for the government of Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
She started her career at the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), where she served for 8 years as the head of the Aquaculture sector and consequently the Director of the Marine Biodiversity Division. During her tenure, she led high-performing teams of scientists in enhancing marine conservation monitoring and research for Abu Dhabi’s flagship marine species and habitats, played a crucial role in the development of several marine-conservation and fisheries policies, and through various campaigns and marine ecotourism projects, contributed to elevating Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a regional leader in marine conservation.
She also spearheaded the development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s first comprehensive set of aquaculture policies, standards, and associated permitting and enforcement mechanisms to empower the development of a competitive and sustainable aquaculture sector to meet vital national food security objectives. Additionally, with her experience in pearl farming in Bali and Western Australia, she managed and enhanced operations at the Lulu Abu Dhabi Pearl Project in Al Mirfa, the UAE’s first pearl aquaculture farm, leading to a significant increase in both pearl production and quality.
Ayesha also spent time at the Abu Dhabi Executive Office where she contributed to the conceptualization of the UAE’s first social contribution fund, Ma’an, and at the Salama Bint Hamdan Foundation where she led on-the-ground research teams to develop baseline parenting trends and identify challenges across various demographic groups in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This work helped inform the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Strategy which in turn, paved the way for the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority.
She also served as Advisor to the Chairman and Acting Director of Corporate Communications for close to 3 years at the Department of Education and Knowledge during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time, she was instrumental in developing the Covid-19 response for the emirate’s private schools, enhancing internal and external stakeholder engagement, perception and satisfaction, and leading the development of multiple award-winning brands, campaigns and events.
Transcending limiting labels, she has enjoyed a diverse range of exciting experiences throughout her career, from leading the design and production of high-end jewelry collections from locally-produced pearls, dabbling in the tech start-up scene, public speaking and moderating celebrity speakers. Today however, her passion lies in fostering a change in leadership consciousness towards a purpose-driven connected world, where the intergenerational impact of our actions on people and planet are at the forefront of decision making.
